CBD Oil Certification Q & A

What is CBD oil?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a chemical compound found in the marijuana plant. Unlike the tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) compound also found in marijuana, CBD isn’t intoxicating and doesn’t give you the sensation of being high.

CBD oil is a natural alternative to other medications for the treatment of sleep apnea and anxiety. The oil can also be effective in easing the chronic pain associated with:

  • Cancer
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Menstrual cramps

If you’re interested in trying CBD oil, the state of Virginia requires that you get a CBD oil certification to legally use CBD.

How do I get a CBD oil certification?

Dr. George offers certificate consultations on-site at Seven Corners Medical Center. While she doesn’t provide the CBD oils, Dr. George can get you certified and recommend the oil as part of your treatment.

During your consultation, Dr. George reviews your medical history, your existing health, and your current treatment plan to determine if CBD oil is right for you.

Once Dr. George provides you with a written CBD oil certification, you must complete the application process as required by the Virginia Board of Pharmacy. There’s a fee for registration, and you’ll need to provide them with confirmation of your identity, age, and residency. After your registration is approved, you receive an official certificate.

What do I need to bring with me to obtain my CBD Certificate?

For you to obtain the Certification, you will need to bring your medical records that document the condition for which you use CBD Oil.

Where do I get CBD oil?

After receiving your CBD oil certification, you register with the state’s regulatory program to obtain CBD oil at one of five dispensaries. These in-state dispensaries are licensed to grow, process, and dispense CBD oil.

When you have your CBD oil certification and are registered with the dispensary, you can begin filling the CBD oil recommendations from Dr. George.

It’s important to note that while CBD oil products may be available online, such purchases aren’t legal at the state or federal level. Products outside of the Virginia-approved dispensaries aren’t regulated and therefore don’t need to meet standards of safety, consistency, or quality.

To ensure you’re getting genuine CBD oils, it’s wise to follow the state of Virginia guidelines for obtaining a CBD oil certification and use only the affiliated dispensaries for CBD oil products.

To learn more about the benefits of the oils or to schedule a CBD oil certification consultation, call Seven Corners Medical Center today or request and appointment online.
